Tokyo Game Show - Day 2
There are tons of Wii and mobile phone games here at the Tokyo Game Show. More so than anywhere else I have seen!
First on the Wii front. Any sport that you can think of probably has a Wii game made for it. Between fighting, fishing, climbing and everything else, someone has made a game for it. Many of them suck, but many of them are a blast to play, and the interface of the controls just makes it that much more fun.
The real surprise turnout of the show, however, was mobile. There are games of all kinds for your phone! People here spend a ton of time on busses and trains, so it is the perfect venue for phone games. I played a cool bowling game where you actually swing your phone to roll the ball (I guess that would be hard on a bus, huh?)
Accessories were out in force as well. The PSP has a TV adapter which would get me in trouble. There was an adapter for the Wii to turn the Wiimote into a gun for first person shooters (oh yea, I want that!) and tons of accessories for the DS as well.
Now on to the witches broom controller. Basically, you sit in a 2 axis chair that has a broom out the back, and a handle coming from between your legs to the front. You fly around like on a broomstick... um, yea - that's what I thought too ;) Not a lot of fun, honestly. Of course, the witch in the videogame was topless, so that was a bonus!
Coolest thing of day 2? That would have to be playing Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3. There was about a 20 minute line to play the demo, but Sony had a Press Only system setup, so props to them. The graphics on Gran Turismo 5 were insane, and the game play has just gotten better as the series has aged.
So now, I am off to Day 3. Check back for more info. At the end of the show, I will do a photo gallery as well as a total wrap up, so pay attention!
