Mixing P.E. and Video Games at School
When I was in high school, the mere mention of video games during gym would bring about the wrath of coach - push-ups, etc. And now, according to the New York Times, physical education classes are now actually letting students PLAY video games!? Dang! I graduated too early.
NYT said that there are plans for installing DDR (or similar) at over 1500 high schools. It's a general effort to get more kids moving and preventing childhood obesity. They also made a point about shifting from competitive sports to "less competitive". Um.. hello? DDR is competitive... and why not keep gym competitive? Life is competitive, let's not teach kids that dancing crappy is okay.
The article mostly talks about DDR. Which obviously means they've never tried Boxing on Wii Sports.
